FORMATEX
LaTeX-to-PDF as a service
TRY IT YOURSELF
Not a screenshot. Edit the document and watch it compile, through the same public API anyone can call.
A document of the kind an AI writes — French text, Unicode symbols, no preamble for any of it. Run the check to see what a compiler makes of it.
FormaTeX compiles LaTeX to PDF through a browser editor and a REST API. The editor has a split-pane preview, multi-file projects, real-time collaboration and an AI assistant that fixes and explains compile errors. The API runs four engines (pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX, LuaLaTeX, latexmk) in sync, async, streaming and ZIP modes, with a library of 60+ templates you can fill from JSON, signed webhooks, and an MCP server so AI agents can compile documents. Go backend, Next.js frontend, TeX Live in a sandbox. There is a free tier and nothing to install.
